Designer Ellie Ueda found lighting through the magic of Disney. The Tokyo native was inspired to pursue a career in theatrical lighting design after falling under the spell of the brilliantly illuminated shows and parades at Disneyland Tokyo as a child. After completing a degree in Theatrical Lighting Design from San Francisco State University and interning at Shiki Theater Company in Tokyo, Ellie earned a spot at a Japanese architectural lighting design firm in Hong Kong. There, she worked on luxury residential and hospitality projects and the façade lighting for Hong Kong’s tallest skyscraper. Ellie has brought her high-end hospitality and theatrical lighting design skills to Lightswitch Hong Kong, where she has worked on casino projects.
