The California Science Center wanted a star attraction for their new building, and the BodyWorks exhibit proved to be the perfect new addition. As a host for the exhibit, they chose a 40-foot long animatronic body named "Tess," who explains different aspects of anatomy to museum visitors.
Lights are utilized to highlight specific areas of the body through textured patterns around the environment and to create special effects.
Internally lit, scientific instruments surround the body and pulse on and off at various times in order to heighten the drama. Moving red and blue lights represent flowing blood, and the overall effect is both impressive and enlightening.
