Lightswitch Architectural designed the lighting for all public and private spaces.
Hillshire Brands got a delicious new space in downtown Chicago. After moving to the suburbs in 2009, the former subsidiary of Sara Lee Corp. returned to the city where it was headquartered for more than 60 years. Architect and interior designer Perkins + Will designed the $75 million, LEED Gold-certified renovation of an existing 220,000-square-foot industrial building in the up-and-coming West Loop neighborhood.
Lightswitch Architectural designed the lighting for all public and private spaces. We selected low-energy, low-maintenance solutions, like fluorescent and LED sources, and designed a substantial DALI-protocol control system that includes occupancy sensors, keypads and touch-screens in conference rooms, personal control capabilities, and daylighting controls. All told, our design came in more than 40% below energy code.
By working in Revit, we were able to seamlessly coordinate our plans with the architect and engineer, significantly reducing time-consuming and costly errors. Using our technological know-how of lighting, controls and BIM, we guided the project team to a successful completion that was on time and in budget.
