Hong Kong Jockey Club - STRC 5F Restaurant

Aedas | Hong Kong | 2012

Lightswitch designed the lighting for the open dining area, lobby and betting counters.

What It Was

Aedas redesigned an existing 2,600-square-meter restaurant at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Sha Tin racecourse stand 5F to attract a younger generation of patron. With patterned glass surfaces, open seating areas and pops of colorful furniture and lighting, the new restaurant is refined yet relaxed.

What We Did

Lightswitch designed the lighting for the open dining area, lobby and betting counters. To define the large, open space, we washed the etched glass walls that divide the corridor and dining areas with light, revealing their wavy pattern. Backlit, 3-D, frosted glass partitions are washed with color-changing light to create a visual feature mid-room. Large drum pendants were centered over tables for ambient illumination.

Why It Worked

Our design combined elegant fixtures with dynamic, multi-hued lighting to create an atmosphere that is both casual and stylish and appeals to young guests.
