John Legend "Love in the Future" Tour

| 2013

When award winning singer / songwriter John Legend started to plan the tour to support his critically acclaimed fourth album ‘Love in the Future’, there was a desire for anything but business as usual.

What It Was

When award-winning singer/songwriter John Legend started to plan the tour to support his critically acclaimed fourth album ‘Love in the Future’, there was a desire for anything but business as usual. Legend turned to frequent and long-time Lightswitch collaborator Nook Schoenfeld, and in turn, Nook brought us to the team to handle content and media.

What We Did

John added to the creative mix his friend Benjamin Millepied (co-star and choreographer for 'Black Swan' and Creative Director for the Paris Opera Ballet) and his newly formed creative agency Amoveo Company. Amoveo director Meredith Danluck worked in lock step with the Lightswitch team, shooting and sourcing stunning footage assets that Lightswitch crafted into a show.

Why It Worked

It was important to John, Benjamin and the creative team that the show had a conscious, defined creative arc with recurring visual themes, rather than the ‘ADD theater’ feeling which can sometimes define concert media design. The show featured immersive all original content, which supported and interacted with Nook Schoenfeld's scenic and lighting design perfectly. Reviews and fans were effusive in their praise, and we were gratified to hear repeatedly that the show fit John, his music and his aesthetic perfectly.
