Moment

Chicago, IL | 2017

Moment is a luxury rental building with 490 apartments and nearly 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood.

What it Was

Located in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, Moment is a luxury rental building with 490 apartments and nearly 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space. In order to differentiate itself from its competitors, Moment focuses on promoting an environment of wellness, healthful vitality, and mindful rental living. Working closely with architect and interior designer Solomon Cordell Buenz, Lightswitch imagined and created a lighting design to enrich the signature design and align with the mission of the property.

What We Did

The inherent elegance and sophistication of the building drove much of our lighting strategy. Beginning at the entrance, we used lighting to make a smooth transition from the exterior porte cochere to the clean and sleek interior lobby. Moment features a large amenity deck where we used toe kick lighting, tree lighting, and base lighting at the railings to avoid large light poles. A lower amenity space with a whirlpool has uplighting in the ceiling and lighting sensors/controls for efficiency.

Why it Worked

Overall, our strategic and thoughtful lighting strategy enhances Moment’s mission to support a mindful and holistic approach to living with a signature look. With an emphasis on sustainability, the building received LEED-Silver certification.
