Ryan is a designer, technologist, and artist interested in the overlap between light, media, immersive storytelling, and the built environment. After designing over 40 theatrical productions with many scales and budgets, he received a BA in Computing and the Arts from Yale University, where his studies centered on the intersection of theatre, art, light, and technology. Ryan also later completed 36 credits toward an MFA in Art & Technology at CalArts. His work experience has included positions at the 70th Annual Tony Awards, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Williamstown Theatre Festival, and in the world of architectural lighting with multiple lighting firms in San Francisco. His projects have been applauded by the Yale Daily News and his undergraduate thesis was published as a case study by City Theatrical. Ryan is thrilled to bring his background in both theatrical and architectural lighting design to the uniquely creative work of Lightswitch.
