Announcing New Additions to Lightswitch Chicago

We are proud to announce new additions to our Chicago studio. Senior Designers Rachel Levy and Eric Southern recently joined our team to focus on architectural projects. Both designers are incredibly talented and bring a diverse portfolio of experience.

Rachel shares her varied background in architecture, theater, music, and television with our practice. Her work has been featured in many theaters and buildings throughout the country, including the Chicago River’s Art on the Mart. Rachel received her BFA in Dance from Tulane University and an MFA in Lighting Design from the California Institute of Arts. Her background in dance and theater influence many of her designs by creating unified stories and environments that inspire emotional connections with an overarching theme of sustainability. We are thrilled to have Rachel as part of our team.

We are also pleased to welcome back to Lightswitch award-winning lighting and set designer, Eric Southern. Previously, Eric was a part of the Lightswitch New York team and recently relocated to Chicago to become an Assistant Professor in the MFA Design Program at Northwestern University. With a background in theater, opera, and dance, Eric’s work has been featured on the international stage, as well as renowned venues in the US; including Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Guthrie Theater. Across all disciplines, Eric’s work focuses on the personal experience of space through light. He holds a BFA in Theater from NYU and an MFA in Set and Lighting Design, also from NYU.
