Compuware OJX

| 2004

Designing a system that could efficiently light a range of events in a glass-roofed atrium with no rigging points was clearly going to be a challenge.

What It Was

Software giant Compuware hosted software developers from around the world at OJX, a showcase for Java technology. Compuware hosted this event in the expansive atrium lobby of their new Detroit headquarters and the Hard Rock Café located in the same building.

What We Did

Designing a system that could efficiently light a range of events in a glass-roofed atrium with no rigging points was clearly going to be a challenge. Event producers Clear!Blue enlisted TD Steve Swanson and Lightswitch early in the process to ‘reality check’ the project. Working with scenic designer Duke Durfee the design team conceived an integrated lighting, scenic and rigging solution that provided the required structure for the event, whilst also remaining sympathetic to the architecture…and the budget!

Why It Worked

The design solution allowed Compuware to show off their new facility, and present a daylong programming festival of diverse events to their guests, while minimizing the impact to the operation of the building in the days before the event.
