Karol G "Mañana Será Bonito" tour

World Tour | 2023-2024

Lightswitch fell back into our longstanding and comfortable rapport with Karol for this ambitious production, which involved extensive coordination with a variety of technical teams.

What It Was

Karol G’s "Mañana Será Bonito" Tour was bigger in every way than her previous shows. Lightswitch fell back into our longstanding and comfortable rapport with Karol for this ambitious production, which involved extensive coordination with a variety of technical teams. The show – in English, “Tomorrow will be beautiful” – told Karol's story of rising through the music industry, experiencing success and heartbreak in equal measure. We sought to convey this hopeful message through our colorful and dynamic lighting.

What We Did

Through our past experiences with Karol G, Lightswitch has learned that she is passionate about the lighting of her shows, and will not hesitate to ask for what she wants. We value this greatly in a client, and enjoy actively collaborating with her on our designs. Because the scale of this tour was so much larger than Karol’s past shows, our team had to coordinate not only with the artist herself, but also with a wide range of representatives – from camera ops, to laser technicians, to the company supplying the audience with wristbands. The huge scope of the concert’s lighting even required a special computer to be constructed in order to operate it.

Besides these logistical and technical hurdles, the show’s design also presented our team with artistic challenges. Karol dreamed of a concert with three visual “chapters”: first blue, then magenta, and finally multicolor. Our final design slowly built through these monochromatic sections, until the last act of the experience, when the stage exploded with color and light. The single-color sections of the show were challenging to design, as they required us to work with a very limited palette while still maintaining a visually dynamic and engaging stage.

Why It Worked

This project was incredibly fulfilling for the Lightswitch team, as it allowed us to do what we do best: balance all aspects of design, from artistry, to logistic coordination, to budgeting, and beyond. At Karol’s behest, we installed lighting behind the audience, so they were as visible to her as she was to them during performances. This introduced a level of intimacy not often achieved in large-scale arena tours. It was this combination of professionalism and creativity from both Lightswitch and Karol that made this tour such a success.
