McKesson Vision Center

Chicago | 2006

By concentrating the light at the displays, we created an exhibit like walk through experience for the visitors.

What It Was

McKesson supplies equipment to health care providers especially hospitals and pharmacies. McKesson’s Vision Center, which demonstrates high tech equipment and services, needed a design update in order to feature its products in a user friendly and interactive environment.

What We Did

By concentrating the light at the displays, we created an exhibit like walk through experience for the visitors. A McKesson specialist usually leads small groups through the Center. At times, the lighting brightens or dims in response to video presentations and the presenters needs. In addition, occupancy sensors turn off the lights when the rooms are not occupied.

Why It Worked

The bright light at the gives McKesson’s equipment a visual presence that sparkles and engages the viewers within the updated display setting. The lighting facilitates the presenter’s efforts by defining a path of travel through the exhibit rooms. In addition, the digital link between the media server and the lighting control system allows the presenter to handle only one remote control device rather than two. The occupancy sensors save electricity and air conditioning costs. Overall, the new lighting system responds more accurately to the Vision Center’s aesthetic and user’s needs.
