Millennium Park Grand Gala

Chicago, IL | 2004

The City of Chicago held a stunning gala for donors and patrons to raise funds for the brand-new Millennium Park in the center of Downtown Chicago.

What it Was

The City of Chicago held a gala event to raise money to maintain this brand-new park in the center of downtown Chicago. They invited donors and workers alike to this event which included dinner, dancing, performances by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, a sky ballet and a spectacle to close the evening.

What We Did

Calling all hands from across the country, and even some international friends, Lightswitch not only highlighted the performances and park structures, we also established a dialogue between the park and the surrounding architecture using the latest searchlight technology. We worked closely with producer Jam Productions, the City and Melrose Pyrotechnics to elegantly showcase the beauty of the park.

Why It Worked

Using pre-visualization software kept the show a relative secret until the big night. Coordinated music, fireworks and searchlights dazzled the crowd inside and the spectators who had gathered outside as well. We infused Chicago's Millennium Park with an artistic human spirit for one magnificent evening.
