Oracle Developer's Conference

Software giant Oracle Corporation brought the industry’s top players together to discuss the future of technology at summit in Shanghai. Held at the multi-million dollar Red Theatre that had been created for the 2010 Shanghai Expo, the conference included the industry’s best and brightest programmers, vendors and users.

Lightswitch’s Hong Kong office worked with show producer InVision, the in-house theater staff and local vendors to design and direct the lighting for the show. Our team of local designers created a design that responded to multiple needs, including the client’s objectives for the show, the theater’s guidelines for lighting and the audience’s cultural sensibilities. To meet the client’s needs for a compelling yet streamlined show, we created dynamic color states that saturated the massive stage with color and movement but still directed the audience’s attention to the presenter. The color schemes coordinated with each company’s corporate branding for added consistency. We also helped the team navigate the strict guidelines of the facility, making use of the limited acceptable positions and supplementing them with additional lighting from our network of local vendors.

Having previously designed Oracle’s U.S. conferences, we were challenged with reproducing the same level of quality in China with an aggressive budget and local resources. Our team of talented, locally based designers worked directly with the client to create the perfect program and then tapped its extensive network of regional vendors and distributors to make that design a reality. By leveraging the resources and design acumen of our full-service office in Hong Kong, we were able to design a show that met Oracle’s expectations without exceeding their budget.
