Vatican Splendors

World Tour | 2007

Lightswitch worked closely with Evergreen Exhibitions to present this exhibit in a respectful, yet beautiful and dramatic fashion.

What It Was

“Vatican Splendors” is a touring exhibit tracing the history of the Vatican through an incredible collection of artwork, artifacts, and documents. This exhibit has been displayed in many different types of venues – each presenting its own challenges.

what We Did

Lightswitch worked closely with Evergreen Exhibitions to present this exhibit in a respectful, yet beautiful and dramatic fashion. Great consideration was given to the conservation of these objects – many of which have never before been publicly displayed. Each installation was a completely new design utilizing a unique combination of architectural fixtures, track lighting, and theatrical fixtures.

Why It Worked

The Lightswitch team worked hard to maintain the appropriate feel for this exhibit. Understanding the priorities of conservation, education, and theatricality was the key to presenting this amazing story to a very diverse audience while satisfying the producers, the Vatican representatives, and the staff from each museum. Developing close relationships with local suppliers and trade people was an important part of completing each installation on-time and within budget.
