Wabash

North American Commercial Vehicles Show | Atlanta, GA | 2019

Wabash, a producer of large commercial vehicles, wanted to level up their booth for the North American Commercial Vehicles Show. Hamilton created a design with video and lighting on a scale not often seen on the NACV show floor, and brought in Lightswitch to design.

What It Was

Wabash, a producer of large commercial vehicles, wanted to level up their booth for the North American Commercial Vehicles Show (NACV). Exhibitors at this trade show do not often expend a large production budget for their booths, but Wabash intended to step out of the box with a head-turning and polished display. In a move sure to draw the attention of attendees from across the trucking industry, Hamilton created a design with video and lighting on a scale not often seen on the NACV show floor. Once again, Hamilton brought Lightswitch in to design lighting and video for this ambitious booth.

What We Did

The goal of Hamilton’s design was to make Wabash stand out from their competitors through the use of highly-polished and professional lighting. The aesthetic of the design was bright and clean, welcoming guests by highlighting Wabash’s most impressive products with purpose and poise.

Lightswitch was involved in multiple facets of this project. First, when challenged to install lighting all the way in the back of a semi-truck trailer, we devised battery-operated solutions. Second, we partnered with Video West to recreate the client’s logo in larger-than-life stripes of LED video tiles. These “video fins,” as we called them, wrapped from the floor to the booth’s ceiling in a technically impressive, right-angle swoop of LED screens. This large element created movement in the booth through changing colors and patterns. Finally, our team also worked on the lighting for the booth’s heading pieces, developing a modern and appealing first impression for attendees of the show.

Why It Worked

Wabash indeed saw foot traffic in their booth increase greatly after debuting this design. They were very pleased by their exhibit’s highly-polished appearance – from lighting design, to video elements, to product presentation – not to mention all the positive attention it garnered throughout the trade show. In the end, the technical risks and challenges of Hamilton’s design undeniably paid off.
