Cisco LIVE! 2017

Mandalay Bay Events Centre | 2017

The creative team’s approach ended up being based on three elements. First, there were several hundred kinetic LED balls by Glow Motion, mounted on DMX control winches.

What It Was

As far as big corporate events go, this Cisco event was unusual. From the RFP process that involved production teams not knowing exactly what the event was going to be unveiling (it was Top! Secret!); to the audience (not sales guys); to the team that was put together to execute it all (only key talents need apply), it presented an opportunity to work with a truly blank canvas.

What We Did

The creative team’s approach ended up being based on three elements. First, there were several hundred kinetic LED balls by Glow Motion, mounted on DMX control winches. The second part was turning the audience into participants. All the guests were given LED four-inch in diameter medallions, also created by Glow Motion. Last was the addition of 18 lasers from Strictly FX, which further connected the dots (literally and figuratively) in a highly-choreographed manner.

Why It Worked

Projects like this need more than just lighting design to succeed – they need a bespoke blend of lighting design, visual design and a truly collaborative spirit. At Lightswitch, we bring these skills to bear on every project we work on. The result? A delighted client, an engaged audience and an event that Patrick Moorhouse from Forbes described as ‘The opening light and music show was one of the best if not the best I have ever seen.’
