Biomet 2014

New Orleans | 2014

Medical device manufacturer Biomet kicked off the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons conference by introducing its newest product: a bicruciate-preserving total knee.

What It Was

Medical device manufacturer Biomet kicked off the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons conference by introducing its newest product: a bicruciate-preserving total knee. The company worked with Hamilton Exhibits to create a fresh exhibit booth that showcased its new knee and existing product line.

What We Did

Hamilton Exhibits retained Lightswitch to design the lighting for the new exhibit. Looking to differentiate Biomet from its competitors, the design team wanted a clean, bright lighting solution that would present Biomet’s products in the best light. To ensure that our design met the company’s creative direction, Lightswitch worked with Hamilton Exhibits to develop renderings that accurately depicted the lighting. We used white LED luminaires and arc sources to highlight the exhibit architecture and illuminate product displays, customizing the color temperature of the light for the best results.

Why It Worked

This was Biomet’s first collaboration with an exhibit lighting designer, and it exceeded expectations. In the words of our client, Angela Grove Armstrong, Global Marketing Communications Manager for Biomet, Inc.: “Working with Lightswitch was a new experience for Biomet. We had not spent a lot of effort on our lighting in the past and really thought of it as just a way to spot certain areas of our booth.
