Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Seahawks Stadium | Seattle | 2018

We created a created a custom production and lighting design for a private Macklemore and Ryan Lewis performance at the Seahawks Stadium in Downtown Seattle.

What It Was

Corporate clients frequently turn to Lightswitch to help craft unique entertainment experiences for their audiences. For this project, we created a custom production and lighting design for a private Macklemore and Ryan Lewis performance. The event was staged at the Seahawks Stadium, located in Downtown Seattle. With sweeping views of the skyline and the ability to seat 69,000 people, the venue was a blank canvas for us to create something remarkable.

What We Did

With direction from the artists and in collaboration with the client, we created a dynamic experience that transformed the arena without taking up a large footprint. Rather than using a generic music festival-like approach, we designed a system that worked as a ‘multi layered cake’ to create a dynamic solution to the staging that was echoed in lighting design.

Why It Worked

This event was scheduled between Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s tour, so the turnaround time was essentially overnight. With very little time, we efficiently programmed the show in one night before the big event. Honing in on our extensive experience with live entertainment, the lighting for the concert was manually executed without use of timecode automation. In a time crunch, the ability to skillfully execute lighting real time during a live concert performance takes skill, planning, and years of practice. Combining the best of ‘old school’ live lighting direction with cutting edge lighting design, we created a bespoke and memorable experience for the audience on time, and on budget.
