McDonald's 50th

Chicago | 2008

In order to support the event Lightswitch designed a flexible system of automated fixtures and made extensive use of previsualization technology to maximize programming time.

What It Was

McDonald's had a lot to celebrate – 50 years of success, 50 years of growth, and 50 years of support for the community. A gala evening at Chicago’s Arie Crown Theater featuring production numbers, video retrospectives, speeches by McDonald's leaders, an address by Colin Powel and a performance by the legendary Elton John made for a night of celebration to mark this auspicious occasion.

What We Did

In order to support the event Lightswitch designed a flexible system of automated fixtures and made extensive use of previsualization technology to maximize programming time. By blending our experience in concert, TV and business theater lighting we were able to ensure all the evenings diverse needs were met.

Why It Worked

The unique blend of experience that is a hallmark of Lightswitch was once again a perfect fit for a McDonald's production. We were able to craft a design that supported the celebratory tone of the evening without upstaging the talent, and was as appropriate for Colin Powell as it was for Elton John.
