Nissan NEXT

WHAT IT WAS

With the COVID-19 pandemic sidelining auto shows for the better part of a year, Nissan turned to a star-studded broadcast to show off their newest vehicle lineup, during which they would launch all-new models of the Pathfinder and Frontier vehicles.

Filmed over a week in Nashville’s Music City Center, the event featured Nissan executives, as well as NFL legends Tim Tebow and Eddie George. The goal of the production design was to make the broadcast look and feel like a live event.

WHAT WE DID

Because Nissan wanted the show to feel like a live event, we designed lighting that incorporated many tools and techniques that would traditionally be used in an auto show full of product reveals.

Our team worked with the show’s Director of Photography to achieve the right looks for the cars and on-camera talent, while still maintaining the overall aesthetic of the event. Strong minimalist visuals have always been a part of Nissan’s signature style, and our lighting played a big role in conveying this on camera.

WHY IT WORKED

The large scale of the production design gave us the ability to create the excitement and energy of a live show, which helped differentiate this broadcast from a traditional studio shoot, or even popular new XR techniques.

The end result felt real, grounded, and genuine. The minimal but powerful looks that we established set the right tone — confident and strong, but not extravagant or distracting — and kept the focus on Nissan’s message and products.
