Infiniti embarked on a new display design language for their global auto show presence in 2019, which carried to the North American market.

WHAT IT WAS

Infiniti embarked on a new display design language for their global auto show presence in 2019, which carried to the North American market. Mixing museum and high-end retail experiences, the brand uses an all-white aesthetic to stand out from competition on the show floor.

WHAT WE DID

Collaborating with experiential agency George P. Johnson and following the creative direction set in previous Infiniti global motor shows, we designed a detailed and meticulous lighting plan to bring the clean and minimal aesthetic to life. By extensively utilizing automated daylight fixtures, we were able to enhance the crisp graphics and architecture with depth and shadow. Undulating overhead fabric structures were continuously illuminated with color-changing fixtures that brought subtle movement and saturation to the otherwise pristine environment. Inspired by the variations and movement of sunlight filtered through passing clouds, we programmed the lighting sequence to have a more organic timing and matched colors found in the accompanying abstract media played on large floor-level video walls.

WHY IT WORKED

The Infiniti space’s dramatic display set itself apart from other exhibits on the auto show floor. Its monochromatic environment stood out from the more typical heavy architecture of competing brands, and the overhead fabric “clouds” created a soft sensuousness that elevated the space to luxury and refinement. Our lighting design infused the Infiniti exhibit with ethereal activation, creating an inviting and fresh atmosphere for its guests.
