Yeo Studio | Hong Kong | 2014

HKJC’s lighting designer of record, Lightswitch Architectural Hong Kong, and Yeo Studio updated the lighting and controls for the front-of-house spaces, including the buffets, seating areas and restrooms.

What It Was

Like the thoroughbreds that grace its track, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Sha Tin racecourse’s newly renovated boxes are sleek and elegant, but also powerful and exciting. The club’s existing Young Members, Racing Club and Priority boxes were re-imagined by interior designer Yeo Studio to appeal to its fashionable clientele.

What We Did

HKJC’s lighting designer of record, Lightswitch Architectural Hong Kong, and Yeo Studio updated the lighting and controls for the front-of-house spaces, including the buffets, seating areas and restrooms. Decorative lighting was key to the renovation. We collaborated with Yeo Studio to specify and design decorative luminaires, including several custom pieces, that complemented the distinctive interiors in all three spaces. We also retrofitted the existing downlights with LED retrofit lamps to create uniform, even illumination that meets the required illuminance levels for the project.

Why It Worked

Special touches, like decorative custom luminaires, transformed the boxes from average to exceptional, creating the right ambiance for the club’s discerning, higher level members. Photos by Robert Tran
