Lightswitch collaborated with George P. Johnson to launch the new Infiniti QX80 flagship SUV at the 2024 New York International Auto Show. We helped envision an immersive exhibit featuring multiple areas of audience engagement, which encouraged visitors to interact with and learn about the new SUV's features. The objective was to balance a sleek architectural aesthetic with elements representing the natural world, resulting in a gallery-like experience that balanced indoors and out.
Lightswitch worked closely with the George P. Johnson team to integrate lighting into all aspects of the environment. Lighting design played a key role in all the immersive areas of the exhibit, which included areas simulating the experience of being in an upside-down forest, visualizing wind and sound waves, and demonstrating color theory. On a larger timescale, we also programmed sequences of subtly shifting light on the exhibit’s trees, mimicking the changing color and intensity of sunlight throughout the day.
Infiniti’s museum-like display attracted visitors with its distinct design. Once inside, they were treated to a curated, exclusive experience centered around the new QX80 flagship SUV, surrounded by appearances from the rest of the Infiniti product lineup. Our design ensured the exhibit stood out from the competition by embracing a balance of nature and architecture, all while communicating a distinct sense of luxury.
