Virgin Atlantic

Chicago | 2007

Event producer Paulette Wolf Events and Entertainment turned to Lightswitch for complete creative event design.

What It Was

Virgin Atlantic and Boeing wanted a surprising and high tech presentation to announce Virgin’s order for Boeings new 787 ‘Dreamliner’. Appropriately for a technology-focused event with a forward-looking message, the event was staged in the central Rotunda at The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago.

What We Did

Event producer Paulette Wolf Events and Entertainment turned to Lightswitch for complete creative event design. Lightswitch not only conceived of the reveal, but also coordinated the production of media and graphic elements for the event. A low-resolution translucent video screen was used not only to display video material but also to create a surprising reveal of a cabin mock up. Lighting was used to transform the Rotunda of the museum into a magical cathedral of light.

Why It Worked

The event successfully exceeded Virgin and Boeings expectation for a kinetic, dynamic event, whilst also minimizing impact to the function of the museum. The event truly surprised and delighted the attendees, resulting in a much talked about event that complimented the technology vision of both companies.
